Municipal water supply programmes serve an important function, helping communities access clean, safe drinking water, no matter how remotely they are situated. Water, as the basis for all life and wellness, remains an all too scarce resource in our world. In particular, South Africa’s status as a water-scarce region has been brought into keen focus as we’ve battled persistent drought conditions.
Ensuring communities have sufficient access to clean water is essential, and for remote communities, it can be quite the battle. That’s why municipal water supply schemes, and the installation of durable water tanks remains a priority for SBS Tanks.
Working closely with municipalities to ensure communities can easily access safe drinking water forms a critical mission for our company. National and local government interventions to help communities access water must be supported by the private sector, with a wide variety of programmes available for implementation.
In particular, installing rainwater harvesting systems, desalination plants, and water tanks, remains an imperative across the country. Let’s take a look at some of our installations:
Emergency Relief Programmes
During 2016, we assisted Gift of the Givers in their drought relief programme and donated three 112kl water storage tanks. These were installed in Lindley, Mamafubedu, and Trompsburg. Learn more about this project here.
Municipal Water Tanks
We’ve worked with numerous municipalities to install needed water tanks across South Africa. These include Riviersonderend in Overberg, the Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal, among others.
