SBS was contacted by Advanced Fire to quote on the supply of two fire tanks for the Debswana Jwaneng Mine in Botswana. Two SBS Tanks® ST12-04, with a gross capacity of 442kl for both tanks, were supplied and installed successfully by SBS at the end of 2017.
Jwaneng, meaning ‘A place of small stones’, is a mining town in Botswana formed around the Jwaneng diamond mine. With a population of around 20 000 inhabitants, it is the second richest village in Botswana with a poverty level of only 3%. The open pit Jwaneng mine is the 8th biggest diamond mine in the world and is believed to be the richest in the world in terms of its content of gem-quality diamonds.
The Jwaneng mine is owned by Debswana, a partnership between the De Beers company and the government of Botswana.
