Through our Build for Better Initiative, we use our profile to share the good in our world, networking with NGO’s and citizens doing good works.
Our Corporate Social Investment programmes allow us to do more for the communities we serve, and we seek out opportunities to Build for Better.

Slam-Dunk for SBS Wheelchair Challenge 2023
SBS Wheelchair Challenge 2023 was a Slam-Dunk!
The fundraising target for the 2023 SBS Wheelchair Challenge was set at R200,000 and thanks to the generosity of SBS supporters, was exceeded again this year. We were once again astounded by the generosity of our SBS supporters which resulted in a total of R366,197 in cash, direct donations, wheelchairs and equipment.
Delayne Gray, CEO: SBS Holdings, a Pinetown based water and food security company, spent 14 hours of his day in a wheelchair in support of the Little Eden CEO Wheelchair Challenge to elevate awareness of the challenges that those with limited mobility face, raising R88000.00 in cash and wheelchair donations for Little Eden, Made for More Adaptive Surfing and the Warriors and Spears Basketball team from Durban.
SBS has partnered with the Yes4Youth movement to help reignite the economy and reduce youth unemployment statistics in South Africa. Our Yes 4 Youth workplace entrants are working in a variety of roles from administration and finance to SHEQ, maintenance and cleaning positions within the company.
Sharing the joy with the learners at KwaCutshwayo School
As part of our CSI efforts, SBS® has taken on a supportive role at the KwaCutshwayo School in Tshelinyama, near the SBS® head office. Over several years this has involved the installation of a 220 kl water tank on site. As part of giving back , SBS® employees spent their lunch and tea breaks woodworking to build one-of-kind wooden cars, trains and other vehicles in the on-site workshop from pallet and packaging timber used in the transport process.
SBS Corporate: Giving the gift of water in honour of Madiba
SBS®, in partnership with SALGA Limpopo, donated a fully fitted, 38 000 litre water tank to the Matoane Village Community, as part of the Mandela Day 2020 celebrations. The community, known as Boknafarm Village, is serviced by two boreholes, one of which was dry and the other unable to supply sufficient water to all community members. The SBS® philosophy of ‘Doing good whilst doing good business’ leads to partnerships, such as the one with SALGA, that assist to mitigate water security risks.
