    Complete water storage solution for mining

    South Africa is known to have the largest reserves of fluorspar globally. The source of fluorite, fluorspar has many uses including the production of certain glasses and enamels. It is also a source of fluorine, an element that is used in the production of non-stick coating for frying pans.

    Replacing ageing infrastructure with a premium solution

    Lafarge Mining Tygerberg in Cape Town contacted SBS® for quotations to replace their ageing water storage infrastructure at the crusher plant, which was rusted, leaking and in danger of collapsing threatening the adjacent office park. Lafarge opted for a tank with effective capacity of 180kl to mitigate the immediate crisis they were facing.

    Gace Farming

    Project Requirements:

    To provide Gace Farming with a cost saving through the production of alternate energy. Gace farming was also faced with the problem of not being able to increase their supply from Eskom. As the farm has expanded over the years, the energy requirement now exceeds that of the current supply so the they needed supplementary supply from solar.

    SBS Energy installed a 120kW peak grid tied solar solution, integrated with a 100kVa generator.

    Requirements:

    SBS Energy installed a 22kW PV ground mount array with a 50kW Sunsynk inverter coupled to a 60kWh Freedom Won battery.

    The ground out was designed and installed by the SSB team and is part of the turn key solution offered by SBS Energy. The ability to keep the process in house allows the SBS team greater control on deliverables whilst saving on cost.
