In the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, SBS Tanks East Africa (EA) took on an important project in partnership with the Moshi Water and Sanitation Authority in Tanzania. The objective was to address the growing demand for clean, reliable water in the region, particularly for the expanding population of Moshi town. The need was urgent—Moshi had outgrown its existing water infrastructure, and a dependable water solution was required to improve distribution to an estimated additional over 200,000 residents. SBS Tanks EA was tasked with delivering a water storage tank that could not only meet these demands but also do so swiftly and efficiently.
Originally, the client was inclined to install a concrete tank. However, after a comprehensive presentation by SBS East Africa, the Moshi Water and Sanitation Authority opted for a more modern, efficient solution: the SBS ST12/02 steel panel bolted tank. The tank’s steel construction, combined with a durable liner and a 10-year no-leak warranty, provided the client with the much-needed assurance of long-term performance and reliability.

The region’s rapid population growth meant that there was an immediate need for a water solution, which placed a heavy emphasis on speed without compromising quality. Without the need for jacks or scaffolding, our installation team completed the two-ring tank with precision, and the final commissioning process was carefully monitored. Once the external piping was tied into the municipal supply, the tank became a key component in Moshi’s water distribution network.
The tank’s technical specifications were tailored for the project, featuring a standard liner and larger-than-usual nozzles to accommodate the increased water flow required by the municipality. The 200NB outlet ensured efficient water distribution from the tank to the surrounding community, helping to alleviate water shortages and improve access for thousands of households.
